On 24 October 2018, the Scottish Government and Scotland’s national carer organisations will hold the 6th Scottish Carers Parliament.
The Carers Parliament is a forum providing carers, young carers, and carer representatives from across Scotland an opportunity to discuss and debate matters important to them.
In previous years, Scottish ministers, MSPs, and other decision makers have been able to hear directly from delegates of their knwoledge and experiences, and participate in debates and discussions.
This year, the event will have a special focus on young carers and the development of young carer support, as 2018 is Scotland’s Year of the Young Person - https://yoyp2018.scot/.
Coalition of Carers in Scotland and VOCAL are able to invite a small delegation from other countries in Europe, to visit this event and join them for meetings between 23 and 25 October 2018. The delegation will ideally consist of a representative from a carer organisation and a young carer. With the support of a small government grant, the two Eurocarers members from Scotland are able to offer 2-3 nights of accommodation in Edinburgh and some small subsidies towards travel costs.
Eurocarers members are invited to express any interest no later than 30 August 2018. Please send enquiries to Sebastian Fischer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
