ENhANCE (for EuropeaN curriculum for fAmily aNd Community nursE) is a project funded by the European Commission under the programme Erasmus+ (Sector Skills Alliance for delivery of Vocational Educational Training). It will start in January 2018 for three years. It aims at overcoming the mismatch between the skills currently offered to the nurses working in Primary Health Care and those actually needed in both public health care institutions and private service providers willing to implement innovative healthcare models centred on Primary Health Care.

Currently, there is no standardised Professional Profile for Family and Community Nurse defined at EU level that takes into account WHO’s and EU’s recommendations on Primary Health Care. Building on existing research and outcomes from ongoing EU Projects, ENhANCE will design a Professional Profile for Family and Community Nurse that will constitute the baseline for the definition of a European, innovative, learning outcome-oriented modular Vocational Education and Training Curriculum for Family and Community Nurses. This curriculum will be available for formal, non-formal and informal learning.

Three national pilots will be implemented in Italy, Greece and Finland. Tools, open contents and detailed guidelines aimed specifically at Vocational Education and Training providers and teachers will be provided.

The ENhANCE alliance includes thirteen partners, from five EU countries representing Vocational Education and Training providers in the field of nursing, regulatory bodies for Family and Community Nurse training, professional associations, public and private employers…

Eurocarers will lead the dissemination, exploitation and sustainability of this project, in cooperation with EASPD (European Association of Services Providers for Persons with Disabilities), the second umbrella organisation member of the partnership.
