On 21 November 2016, the international conference on “Active Life - Life as carer: fighting against salary inequalities between men and women” will take place at the European Economic and Social Committee, in Brussels.
The seminar – which will be in French with English interpretation provided- aims to disseminate the results of the Project ‘Agir contre les écarts de salaire Femmes/Hommes: prendre en compte le cas des aidantes informelles' lead by the MACIF (French insurance company) and the Ligue des Droits de l’Homme (France), co-funded by the European Union (Progress Programme).
An interesting study, commissioned within the project, highlights the mechanisms by which caring activities reinforce the Gender Pay Gap to the detriment of women. It provides also a review of policies and good practices developed by enterprises in order to address such discrimination.
Based on the outcomes of this research a set of handy tools has been developed in the project to raise awareness and explain these discrimination as stake: a leaflet, a booklet and a short animated infographic.
