On 16th March, Eurocarers took part in a Round Table organised by MED-TECH Europe to explore, together with other civil society organisations active in the area of heath, shared topics of interest within the theme of Community/Home/Social Care.
MED-TECH Europe is the European trade association representing the medical technology industries, from diagnosis to cure. The organisation represents diagnostics and medical devices manufacturers operating in Europe. The meeting was the opportunity to discuss with the MED-TECH ‘Community Care Group’, which brings together companies from across the medical technology sector, who make products for the patients living in communities.
This Group commits to:
“Actively raise awareness of the importance of community care for patients and the future of healthcare in Europe;
Partner with external stakeholders, both public and private, to ensure that the best possible care is available across Europe, at the most appropriate place in the community;
Demonstrate the value of treating people as close as possible to where they live, and in tackling twin challenges of an ageing population and increasing chronic diseases;
Being a trusted partner in community care.”
During this meeting, Eurocarers promoted a vision of community-based care, which is in line with the WHO Framework for Action on Integrated Services Delivery. We hope that these discussions will pave the way for a better understanding of the issues at stake from the side of these enterprises as well as, concretely, facilitate the involvement of users in the co-design of medical devises from the initial conception to the evaluation.
