In 2016, a group of carers from Greece had the opportunity to follow Eurocarers’ work. One point of discussion was that there was no carers’ organisation in Greece.
After a fruitful period of dialogue at local level, starting towards the end of 2016, 22 carers created the "Greek Carers Network EPIONI" (22 is the minimum number of people required to create an association in Greece), and on Monday 13th March 2017 the provisional Board of Directors sent the application to the local authorities for formal approval of the statutes.
EPIONI is a non-profit organisation, for charitable, scientific, educational and advocacy purposes, which aims to promote and defend the rights of carers to representation and social inclusion.
The Greek Carers Network "EPIONI" endeavors to enhance the recognition of informal care and to represent and act on behalf of carers and ex-carers, whatever their age and the specific needs of the person receiving care.
EPIONI looks forward to receiving the support of Eurocarers as we take our first steps.
