The Maturolife project aims to produce an innovative assistive technology, that will achieve a better integration of sensors into fabrics and textiles, allowing designers to create AT products for older people that are not only functional but also more desirable and appealing as well as being lighter and more comfortable.
The consortium brings together 20 partners from 9 countries and includes organisations operating in the creative industries, scientists working on cutting-edge advances, nanotechnology and advanced materials development, the materials supply chain, manufacturers of footwear, furniture and clothing, European organisations representing the end user from across Europe. The Maturolife consortium is coordinated by the Coventry University. Eurocarers, together with AGE Platform, is responsible for facilitating the stakeholders’ and end-users’ participation in the project (older adults, informal carers and health professionals).
On January 24th and 25th, the Maturolife kick-off meeting took place at the premises of the European Commission in Brussels. During these two days, the consortium partners had the opportunity discuss the project final work plan that will be carried out in the next three years.
Maturolife kick-off Meeting – Brussels, 24th -25th 2018
During the project first quarter, Eurocarers played a very active role by developing and delivering a user engagement methodology that will feed the next steps for the design research phase and, in a later phase, the prototype testing process. Eurocarers provided the consortium with a methodology for engaging and working with end-users as well as guidelines on how to ethically and efficiently engage with older adults and carers participating in social science and design research.
