CarICT is an online directory of ICT-based services for informal carers
This online directory brings together successful or promising examples of ICT-based solutions targeted at informal carers. The objective of this directory is to maximise the dissemination of existing good practices and to raise awareness about these among end-users (i.e. carers and older people) and stakeholders.
The directory has been developed in the framework of a study on “ICT-based solutions for caregivers: assessing their impact on the sustainability of long-term care in an ageing Europe” (12.2010-12.2011).
This study, jointly funded by the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) and DG INFSO and run by the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research in Vienna, systematically documented the extent of ICT-enabled services to support carers and explored how this type of initiative works.
The goal was to understand how ICT can play a role in the future mix of services and supports available to the elderly and their carers and to facilitate the creation of a sufficient number of available (motivated) and skilled domiciliary caregivers in Europe.
