Using Drama and Storytelling in Dementia Care
Alzheimer Hellas is very excited to share with you the training handbook of the Erasmus+ 2018 project “Story2remember” – Using drama and storytelling in dementia care (Agreement number 2018-1-RO01-KA204-049556). This training handbook has been created as part of a wider project and is aimed at people with dementia, health and social care professionals and care providers. In tandem with the project’s Booklet “Creative drama and storytelling in dementia care: Information for practitioners“, this handbook is designed to equip health and social care professionals with all the necessary information, skills and materials to guide the delivery of the Story2Remember programme in care settings.
The Handbook comprises of five workshops: 4 based on storytelling and one on creative drama techniques. Following the successful testing in Ireland, trained professionals piloted the programme in United Kingdom, Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, involving over 80 professionals and over 70 people with dementia. This project has been funded with support from the European Commission. The handbook and the programme were developed by The Gaiety School of Acting -The National Theatre School of Ireland in coordination with Erasmus + partners.
