The European voice for informal carers

An invitation from the Irish Department of Health

Last 24th January, Family Carers Ireland (Clare Duffy) and Eurocarers (Claire Champeix)  presented their perspectives on the gender dimension of care, at the invitation of the Irish Department of Health on the occasion of an internal webinar. This session was part of a series of webinars that are linked with the aims of the Irish Women’s Health Action Plan adopted last March. The objective is to inform the Women’s Task Force and the broader Department of Health in these areas, and also give the presenters a chance to help shape future policy with the information they present.

The webinar gave us the opportunity to raise awareness of carers and carers’ organisations, and present the European Care Strategy as well as recent policy developments concerning carers in Ireland. It was followed by more than 50 participants, who expressed their interest and asked quite a few questions.
