Call for abstracts – Ageism and sexism in old age: The need for a new narrative on ageing

Older Women’s Network, Europe (OWN-EU) and Linköping University, Ageing and Social Change (ASC) invite you to submit an abstract for an oral presentation at a free online conference they are co-organizing on 10th October 2024 on: Ageism and sexism in old age: The need for a new narrative on ageing

The conference intends to draw together researchers, activists, professionals, human rights’ experts and anyone interested in discussing issues related to the experience of ageism and sexism faced by women in old age. The conference also aims to provide an engaging experience in discussing a society in which older women are fully included and valued.

The conference will comprise keynote speeches and oral presentations.

Abstracts are called for the oral presentations on the following topics:

  • Ageism and sexism in old age: Contributions on disadvantage and human rights issues affecting women in old age, images of ageing and stereotyping, instances of gendered ageism at relational and institutional levels or self-ageism.
  • The need for a new narrative on ageing: Contributions on new narratives on ageing from a gender and life course perspective, policies, initiatives and advocacy tackling ageism and sexism in old age.

Selected oral presentations will be 20 minutes long and will be followed by a moderated Q&A.

Deadline for submission of abstracts: 14th June 2024 c.o.b.
