EP ‘Champions for Informal Carers’ Platform

Dear Members of the European Parliament,

On behalf of Eurocarers, we extend our warmest congratulations on your election. As a representative of EU citizens, your role holds crucial importance in addressing the growing care needs of the European population in a universal and equitable manner. Furthermore, recognising and supporting the essential contribution of informal carers is vital to prevent the negative impact of caregiving on their daily lives (e.g. on their access to employment and education, social inclusion and poverty, health outcomes, etc.).

Call for Participation:

Eurocarers has been at the forefront of policy dialogues on care and caregiving across Europe for the past two decades. Today, we invite you to contribute to our efforts by joining our EP Champions for Informal Carers Platform.

This platform aims to work closely with relevant stakeholders to:

• Critically monitor and analyse EU policy development for its impact on informal carers; and
• Propose and advocate concrete policy actions to ensure that carers are considered in EU policy development.

This robust support base in the European Parliament will build upon the foundation laid by the EP Informal Carers Interest Group. Our election manifesto delineates our policy priorities for the future and sets out the scope of the Platform’s actions.

Your participation as a Champion for Informal Carers is vital in our collective pursuit of securing the support and recognition that carers rightfully deserve. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of millions of individuals who selflessly dedicate themselves to caring for their loved ones.
