The European voice for informal carers

The Daily Caregiver Allowance comes into effect in France

On the 2nd of October 2020, the decree relating to the French Daily Caregiver Allowance has been published. It is a concrete form of recognition of the role of informal caregivers in society, started with the law of 11 February 2005 “for equal rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship of people with disabilities” then in 2015 with the ASV law, enshrined as such in the 2019 law promoting the recognition of informal caregivers. The transversal approach to the subject with the convergence of policies relating to the elderly and people with disabilities, and also with the opening of this leave to categories of workers other than private employees (public employees, self-employed workers for example) is a positive point to underline.
