The European voice for informal carers

Webinar – Young Carers Voices – International perspectives

2023 has the potential to be a landmark year for young carers. It is the Commonwealth Year of Youth, and within this, there has been a real focus on young carers with the development of the first ever Commonwealth Young Carers Charter and appointment of the first Commonwealth Young Carer Champion, Oritsé Williams – a former young carer and international musician who is part of the band JLS.

There has also been noticeable progress in the recognition of the need for more support for young carers in countries beyond the Commonwealth.

To mark these developments, Carers Trust, the Young Carers Alliance and the Commonwealth Secretariat, as well as young carers and organisations from around the world will be coming together in June for ‘Young Carers Voices – An international perspective’.

This event, run over two days will provide the opportunity to hear the voices and experiences of young carers, learn more about some of the developments in a wide variety of countries in relation to young carers, and the opportunity to learn from a wide range of organisations.

The event is being run over two days at different times (5-7pm BST on the Thursday and 9-11am BST on the Friday in order to accommodate as many time zones as possible, and will be recorded.
