The European voice for informal carers

Capacity building for caregivers of persons with dementia

On 25 February, Anziani e Non Solo Cooperativa launched the e-learning platform of the EU project Dem@entoring, which is led by the Greek ICT expert Innosystems. The tool provides formal and informal caregivers of persons with dementia with capacity building opportunities.

Apart from e-learning modules, the platform provides caregivers with e-mentoring opportunities: they can meet online other caregivers like them and learn from their peers. For this purpose, the platform does not only contain e-learning modules on dementia, but also on how caregivers can become e-mentors for other caregivers like them.

Dem@entoring adopts an educational and training approach aimed to address health and wellbeing of persons with dementia and their caregivers. Through its work, the project also aims to enhance understanding of dementia and to disseminate strategies and practices to cope with the dementia symptoms, thus decreasing stigmatization. Its platform is available for caregivers speaking English, Greek, Italian, Polish, or Swedish.

As a partner of the project, Anziani e Non Solo is working to create a Dem@entoring community, which joins the platform to acquire and share experiences and knowledge. To achieve this goal, Anziani e Non Solo is engaging schools and formal and informal caregivers with the project to ensure a high use of this e-learning tool.

Anziani e Non Solo is calling caregivers of persons with dementia to join the Dem@entoring community. In order to access to Dem@entoring e-learning modules and e-mentoring opportunities, caregivers can register to the platform here.
