The European voice for informal carers

Dormant accounts – a possible source of project funding?

Some governments officially and legally take over dormant bank account and other similar resources, that are apparently unused and unclaimed. There is usually a set time period of years in which there is no activity whatever on the account by the account holder.

This moves the resources from the benefit of the banks to the benefit of the government.

In Ireland the government used these resources to fund social and community projects and one such example was to fund training for informal / family carers.
