Manual for the training and support of carers of people with dementia in Spain

Our Spanish colleagues from CEAFA recently launch their Manual for the training and support of carers of people with dementia

This manual that has been prepared within the framework of the Strategy for Neurodegenerative Diseases of the SNS and reviewed by CEAFA.

The content is an adaptation of the iSupport tool of the World Health Organization, translated into Spanish, adapted to the particularities of our country, and reviewed by CEAFA.

This project responds to general objective No. 6 “Support for carers”, framed in Strategic Line 3 of “Care for Caregivers” of the Strategy, in order to effectively support the work of people who play the role of primary caregiver, favoring their training, facilitating their health procedures and preventing and addressing their physical, mental and emotional wear and tear and the risk of social isolation. Its purpose is to help the caregiver to face the daily challenge of caring for a person with dementia, as well as to take care of himself, providing information, and offering him a range of skills that can be useful to him to approach the different phases through which people with dementia go through.

The lessons included in this manual have been carefully designed and can be found on our website in the publications section https://www.ceafa.es/es/que-comunicamos/publicaciones (in Spanish)
