The European voice for informal carers

Supporting family carers in Lombardy, Italy

Lombardy Region announces the launch of a project in Bergamo aimed at providing practical support to caregivers, titled ‘Supporting Family Carers. Taking Care of Those Who Care.’ This collaborative initiative is led by ATS Bergamo in partnership with ASST, the College of Mayors, and 14 Social Territorial Areas. The goal is to enhance caregiver support by fostering collaboration between formal and informal care systems, health services, and social support, ultimately reshaping the local welfare system. Key initiatives include a web portal connecting caregivers with local services, the Carer Bergamo Laboratory for collective problem-solving, and the involvement of Community Foundations in co-designing proposals for targeted support. Territorial teams will deliver integrated social and health services, supported by the Carer Observatory for data analysis and research on relief packages and health budgets.
