The AGE platform supports European Carers Day

“Inequality in unpaid care provision have deep effects on the well-being of women throughout their life-span”, warns Maciej Kucharczyk, Secretary-General of AGE Platform Europe. “Older women face an average pension gap of 27% vis-à-vis men on average in the EU; and have and women over 75 are 12% more likely to be at risk of poverty and social exclusion. A lot of this gap is due to inequality related to care. The EU Care Strategy has these inequalities on its radar but remains a soft instrument. Member States must get serious about realising change on the ground for millions of women of all ages.”
