The European voice for informal carers
Save the Date: Final dissemination event EDY-CARE Project

The final dissemination event of the Edy-Care Project has taken place on 19th February 2020, from 09:00 to 12:30, at Palais des Academies.

The event was an opportunity to reflect on the impact of caring responsibilities on education and social inclusion of young carers.

The meeting started with young carers sharing their educational experience (the challenges they had to face, what helped/could have helped them). Then, the project partners presented the innovative activities they have implemented in their countries (Sweden, Slovenia, Italy and Portugal) to support young carers at school. The programme then moved to a presentation of good practices from other European countries (namely the Young carers in school programme, by Carers Trust, UK). The last session aimed to be a broader reflection on concrete measures that different stakeholders can put in place to enable young carers to reach their goals in life and thrive.

The event was attended by young carers, school professionals, service providers, policymakers, representatives from carers organisations, at regional, national and European level.

The event provided participants with a better understanding of the challenges faced by young carers in school, but, most of all, empowered them with concrete tools they can adopt to improve the quality of life of young carers.
