Exchange of views on the situation of young carers in Europe

On 18 March 2025, the European Parliament’s Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) held an Exchange of Views on the situation of young carers in Europe. The session offered a valuable opportunity to raise awareness about the challenges faced by young carers and the urgent need for their recognition in EU policies.

Eurocarers’ Young Carers Working Group was proudly represented by Marjet Karssenberg, a young carer and active member of the group. Marjet shared her powerful personal experience with the Members of the European Parliament, bringing a human face to the realities many young carers encounter every day across Europe.

We are encouraged by the growing interest and commitment among policymakers and remain optimistic that young carers will soon be meaningfully included in relevant EU frameworks and initiatives.
