Final Conference of the PRODOME project for the recognition and professionalisation of domestic workers in Europe.
PRODOME is 3 years project funded by the EU programme Erasmus +, running till 31 October 2019 and bringing together 11 partners from 4 di¬fferent countries (France, Italy, Spain and Belgium). The main objectives of the project are:
• To achieve a better understanding of the situation of domestic workers in Europe through the study “The state of the art of domestic work in Europe”, presenting an analysis of the current situation, based on desk and field research.
• To develop a training programme adapted to the current needs of domestic workers. This training uses the “blended learning” format and is tested in two piloting countries: Spain and Italy. Both transversal (such as IT or “green” skills applied to the household) and specific competences are included.
• To promote a European certification for domestic workers.
First outcomes were presented during the PRODOME’s final conference which took place on the 10th of October 2019 in Paris. This event created an opportunity to discuss the challenges of the professionalisation of domestic housekeepers in the UE with representatives from the European commission, the European Parliament, and the International Labour Organisation.
