International Care Congress in Tenerife – a big recognition for family carers!

Last November 3, 4 and 5, our member Acufade, organized and hosted in Tenerife, Canary Islands (Spain) the First International Care Congress.

It gave opportunity to many professionals and authorities presenting different challenges, perspectives, activities, and projects related to family care. Among several speakers were also three representatives of Eurocarers. Stecy Ighemonos presented the situation in the EU and the newly adopted care strategy. Sebastian Fischer and Elizabeth Hanson gave an overview on good practices and approaches in Scotland and Sweden.

The congress, which was organized in collaboration with the Co-responsible Plan in charge of the Vice-Ministry of Equality and Diversity of the Government of the Canary Islands, was attended by more than 2.500 people- both in person and online. With the words of the director of Acufade, Elena Felipe: “we are proud of this immense reception and the enormous success of international cooperation that this congress entails”. A congress goes hand in hand with the recent opening of the department of international cooperation of ACUFADE that is aiming at further cooperation with other organizations in Europe and wider. Elena Felipe concluded “The International Congress on Care has come to stay, and we have already set our sights on the second edition after this undoubted success.”  So, see us in the Canary Islands in 2024!
