Invitation to attend the 7th Scottish Carers Parliament, 30th October 2019, Edinburg – Scotland
Dear Eurocarers members,
On Wednesday 30 October 2019 the Scottish Government, in partnership with Scotland’s national carer organisations, is holding the 7th Scottish Carers Parliament. Every year, over 100 carers from all parts of Scotland meet with government ministers in Edinburgh to debate key issues for carer support. The theme of this year’s Carers Parliament debate is “DIVERSITY”.
The Carers Parliament is not only an event which provides great insight into the situation of carers in the region, it is also very inspiring due to its democratic and participatory nature.
Supported by the Scottish Government, our Scottish colleagues are able to invite representatives of carer organisations in Europe to visit this event and meet with carers and carer organisations in Scotland. They can offer up to 12 places, accommodation with breakfast for up to two nights, one shared evening meal. To complement this very generous offer, Eurocarers will be happy to cover the travel costs of this small delegation.
Arrival date would be on Monday 28 October. A programme of meetings and presentations on Scotland’s carer policy and services would be developed for our delegation on the 29 October and we would then attend the Carers Parliament itself on the 30th October. This programme would also allow us to fly back home before Brexit day on the 31 October, if it ever happens!
We would be very grateful if you could express your interest no later than 30 September 2019. Please send enquiries to either Riika Lempiainen (rl@eurocarers.org) or Sebastian Fischer at sfischer@vocal.org.uk.
