8th National Day of Action for Family Caregivers in Austria
The 8th National Day of Action for Family Caregivers will take place on September 13, 2026.
On this day, attention is drawn to our annual theme for 2026: “When the world comes apart at the seams – family and informal caregivers as key supporters in disaster and crisis management.”
Particularly in times of crisis or disaster, family caregivers and those close to individuals requiring care play a vital role; they act as knowledgeable points of contact, enabling them to assist emergency personnel during evacuations. Working alongside them, the aim is to ensure the best possible care for those affected-especially individuals with dementia or ME/CFS—so that they do not come to harm during an emergency operation.
A total of 50,000 of these information cards are being distributed across Austria.
They remain relevant well beyond the National Day of Action, as the reverse side lists contact details allowing family caregivers and those close to care recipients to get in touch with the Social Ministry’s citizen service or with us directly.
We will continue our voluntary efforts and leverage our established network to raise awareness of family caregiving through annual themed campaigns, ensuring that family caregivers and those close to care recipients receive the best possible support.
