ESN Webinar COVID-19 And Long-Term Care: Challenges, Responses And Future Planning

ESN webinar COVID-19 and Long-Term Care: Challenges, Responses and Future Planning

COVID19 has disproportionally affected older people, impacting on the provision of Long-Term Care dramatically over recent months. During the period of confinement mortality in care homes significantly increased and social contact with older people was restricted in order to protect them from infection. Consequently, day care centres had to be temporarily closed and care homes banned relatives from visiting residents. Care provided at home was also affected as professionals did not have access to protective equipment to carry out their duties and many older people were afraid of letting carers into their homes.

As countries start the deconfinement process of people in Long-Term Care the focus is now turning to future planning and crisis preparedness. In our webinar we will discuss with representatives of public Long-Term Care service planners, regulators, and providers. The webinar will focus on three key areas:

  • What were the challenges & provided responses?
  • What will be the impact on future planning?
  • What tools will be needed for better preparedness for future crisis?
