Czech legislation recognizes informal carers for the first time
In 2024, the Czech Republic made a historic move by formally recognizing “informal carers” in its legislation. This change is set to transform the future of long-term care for individuals with high care needs in home settings. Family carers will now receive greater consideration within the social system.
Since the previous year, Alfa Human Service has been an active participant in a working group at the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic. This group is dedicated to addressing the issue of informal care comprehensively. One of its key objectives is to define all aspects of informal care and integrate them into the National Strategic Plan for the Development of Social Services, which extends until 2036.
