How Preferences and Reality on Where We Die Unfold: New EOLinPLACE Study Published
We are delighted to share that an important new article on adult trajectories regarding places of death across four countries has been published in the journal Health Expectations. Entitled “How Preferences and Reality on Where We Die Unfold: A Four-Country Longitudinal Qualitative Study (EOLinPLACE)”, the paper explores how adults with life-threatening illnesses and their family caregivers decide about their preferred and actual dying places/locations.
Patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) was embedded in this international project from the start. Eurocarers, along with the International Alliance of Patients’ Organisations (IAPO), formally partnered to contribute to the study design, training, and the sensitive interpretation of findings. Our collective contribution is recognised right at the beginning of the paper (and at the end of the abstract).
You are invited to read the open-access article to learn more about how personal, relational, and contextual considerations—including caregiver burden—shape end-of-life trajectories.
