New book to spotlight the global impact of carers’ organisations
Eurocarers is pleased to share news of an upcoming book by Professor Sue Yeandle (CIRCLE, UK), which will explore the emergence, development and global impact of carers’ organisations over the past six decades.
The book, entitled Carers’ Organisations and their Impact: the creation of a global movement, will be published by Policy Press in July 2026. It offers a comprehensive and historically grounded analysis of how carers’ organisations have shaped public debate, policy and practice at national and international levels.
The publication is structured in three parts:
-
Part I – Carers’ organisations emerge
-
Part II – Campaigns and influence 1965–2014
-
Part III – International carers’ organisations 2015–2025
Eurocarers features prominently in the book. The network’s origins and early international cooperation are discussed in Chapter 3, “On a global stage: early international cooperation”. In addition, Chapter 8, “Eurocarers: engagement, impact and public policy 2015–2025”, co-authored with Jayne Astbury, provides an in-depth analysis of Eurocarers’ work, influence and contribution to European and international care policy over the past years.
As part of the preparation of the book, Sue Yeandle engaged with many Eurocarers members to gather insights and evidence. She has expressed her sincere thanks to all members who shared information, reflections and experiences that helped inform this important publication.
The book will be of interest to carers’ organisations, policymakers, researchers and all those working to improve recognition, support and rights for carers worldwide.
More information about the book is available on the Policy Press website.
