The Dutch Young Carers Week 2026 campaign toolkit is now available – including English-language materials
The national Dutch awareness campaign “More Than You Think” (“Meer dan je denkt”) highlights the often unseen impact of caring responsibilities on children and young people, while also showing what can truly help young carers in their daily lives.
To support organisations, professionals, schools and communities during the Dutch Young Carers Week (1–7 June), a free national campaign toolkit has now been made available through the Week van de Jonge Mantelzorger initiative in the Netherlands. The toolkit includes a wide range of materials for both online and offline awareness-raising activities, including videos, posters, animations and social media content. Organisations can also personalise parts of the toolkit with their own logo and contact details.
Importantly, following requests from professionals and organisations working with international and multilingual young carers in the Netherlands, the toolkit now also contains English-language campaign materials. This aims to help reach international students, migrant communities and other young carers who may not speak Dutch fluently.
At the same time, the campaign videos themselves are designed to be emotionally accessible beyond language barriers. Even without fully understanding Dutch, viewers can clearly grasp the core message: that recognising young carers, paying attention to their situation, and simply offering a listening ear can make a meaningful difference – #MoreThanYouThink.
The free toolkit can be downloaded via: www.weekvandejongemantelzorger.nl. We warmly invite you to take a look and perhaps get inspired. Want to know more about the campaign? Please contact Michael Buynsters via alliantie@jmzpro.nl.
