The group for people in the early stages of dementia “Friends by Memory” now has its own logo!

Since mid-2025, the Alzheimer Bulgaria Association has been working on the project “Friends by Memory – a group for people in the early stages of dementia”, which was approved for funding under the Sofia municipality Social Innovation Program. Part of the tasks of the project was the creation of a logo especially for the group.

The aim of the project is to counteract several different consequences associated with the diagnosis of dementia, such as social isolation and age discrimination. To achieve this goal, several different tasks have been developed.

At the heart of the project is the creation of two groups for people in the early stages of dementia. Weekly meetings are organised for these groups, within which they work with psychologists and therapists. The effect of the meetings is multifaceted. They provide a space for socialisation and sharing with people going through the same experiences, which is a valuable opportunity to counteract social isolation. In addition, working with specialists aims to slow down the cognitive decline associated with dementia and emphasise the strengths of group members. This, in turn, can lead to an increase in quality of life.

It was within the group for people in the early stages of dementia that the decision for the new logo was made. The members of the group were presented with several possible options, from which they personally chose their preferred visual. The new logo aims to create a sense of belonging and further unite the group.

The work of the association continues, and more exciting innovations are coming within the project. In the coming weeks, a manual with methodological guidelines for working in groups with people with early-stage dementia will be published. More information coming soon!
