3rd International Care Congress – “Defending Care, Building Community”

On 8–9 October 2026, ACUFADE will host the III International Care Congress – “Defending Care, Building Community”, bringing together professionals, organisations, researchers, activists and communities in El Hierro, Canary Islands, as well as participants joining online.

This year’s Congress takes a deliberately broad and somewhat different perspective on care. Alongside more familiar care-related topics, the programme explores the connections between care, human rights, migration, gender, racism, territory, community and social justice. It invites participants to look beyond care as a service or individual responsibility and consider the wider social and political conditions that allow people and communities to live with dignity.

With speakers and experiences from different countries and contexts, the Congress may be particularly interesting for Eurocarers members wishing to explore care from new perspectives and connect it with wider debates about rights, inclusion and community.

The Congress will be preceded on 7 October by a pre-Congress event, including presentations of selected research and good-practice posters and the ACUFADE Grants and Awards. The call for scientific and good-practice posters remains open until 28 August 2026 (extended to September 07) , offering researchers, professionals, students and organisations an opportunity to share their work with the Congress community.

Participation is free, with the possibility to attend in person or online, and simultaneous interpretation into English will be available.
