The European voice for informal carers

Call for contributions to EASPD study on support for carers of persons with disabilities

The European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) is conducting a study to identify and promote promising practices in supporting informal carers of persons with disabilities across Europe. The research aims to examine how services can promote dignity, autonomy, and inclusion for both carers and persons with disabilities.

To support this work, the researchers are currently looking for individuals and organisations who are willing to contribute in one of the following ways:

  1. Review of Promising Practices

Researchers will share a short summary of identified promising practices in disability support services. They are seeking feedback from professionals, service providers, and advocacy organisations across Europe—whether to clarify, expand on the practices described, or suggest additional examples. A simple feedback template will be provided.

  1. Focus Groups

Researchers are organising two focus groups to gather more in-depth insights:

  • Informal Carers: Open to anyone who currently cares or has cared for a person with a disability, regardless of living arrangements. Researchers are particularly interested in a diverse group of participants, including those with broader insights into the experience of family carers, and carers of both children and adults.
  • Service Providers: Open to providers who have supported informal carers, either currently or in the past. The discussion will cover types of support, impact, sustainability, and suggestions for improvement.
