The European voice for informal carers

EPIONI Highlights Mental Resilience at Its 2nd Caregivers’ Event

On 5 December 2025, EPIONI organised in Athens its 2nd event on Caregivers and Mental Resilience at the French Institute of Greece, bringing together experts to discuss key factors that strengthen carers’ wellbeing.

The speakers addressed evidence-based approaches to resilience, including the role of neuroplasticity, the benefits of structured training for informal carers, the psychosocial impact of chronic illness on families, and mind–body interventions that support stress regulation. Additional presentations focused on self-care as an essential component of sustainable caregiving, the risk of role-identity overload among carers, and the importance of family systems in building resilience.

The discussions reaffirmed that supporting carers’ mental resilience is crucial for maintaining their capacity to care and for ensuring better outcomes for care recipients.
A recording of the event will be available via Bodossaki Lectures on Demand (BLOD).
